unexpected visiters

Here an interesting story... a while ago I was driving home and noticed a family bicycling down the road. Normally I would not really think to much about that, but they had small children and their bikes were loaded down with packs and traveling gear. Well I was very interested in what they were doing, so I turned around and stopped to ask what they were doing and where they were going.... Well come to find out through their heavy french accents, they were bicycling from Cancun Mexico to Canada.....WITH THEIR 4SMALL CHILDREN.....I was shocked. I have 4 small children and I could not imagine this venture. Their 11 and 8yr old rode his own bike, their 5 yr old was on a tandem behind her dad and the 2 yr old was in a bike trailer, being pulled by the mom. I could not even imagine my family doing this, my 2 yr old would not sit in a trailer all day. The trip was going to take 6 months... wow!

Well of course i was very interested and asked where they slept, and they said along side the road or just at interested peoples house that offer.... well, since I was so interested, i said," come on over to my house and you can spend the night and have dinner". Not remembering that my house was a complete disaster(as usual) and i needed to hurry and warn my husband coming home from work, that their was a french family staying at our house for the night. oh well, it ended up being very fun and was great to meet such nice adventurous people. the children did not speak English, and my daughter keep asking why they would not talk to her... they don't understand you, honey! But we could understand the couple, Marie and Fred.

We had a great dinner and they slept out in our tent camper, they showered and updated their blog... which I have been trying to follow to see where they are now, but its all in french. (if anyone knows how i can get their blog translated, let me know), and of course they offered, when ever we go to France to come stay with them... that would be fun.

Normally I would have never stopped, my husband is a police officer and he would have freaked, but now I'm so glad I did, I would have never got to meet such a sweet family, that really was just like mine, just much, much, more adventurous.

big box of clothes

OK... well I am definitely a PACK RAT... my mom is a pack rat, my grandma was a pack rat... so therefore I'm a PACK RAT. So in my garage, i got my big sweet pickle to let my have one corner of space to put whatever i want in it. Well he was giving me a hard time, asking why i was saving a big box of clothes, that surly was supposed to be going to the thrift store...well, i said, "i am going to make a rug out of our old clothes"... well let me tell you my husband already thinks I'm nuts... but this was over the top, "sure, and why wouldn't we want a old clothes rug" , but i reminded him that this is my square in the garage that he was not allowed to make me get rid of any thing in that corner.

So if any one has made a rug out of your old clothes let me know... and in the future of this blog, I will be sharing lots of other ridiculous recycling projects that i do, because I just cant throw anything out, that i can recycle and reuse. I am a PACK RAT... I will admit it!!!

its the season...

for making homemade gifts. one of these years i would love to just have a homemade Christmas and tell everyone i only want homemade things and only give homemade things...im sure my kids would just love that...hahaha.

well i am trying to make somethings for gifts.... im making fabric grocery bags, so everyone can GO GREEN, im also crocheting dish cloths out of cotton yarn. and then if i had a camera, i would take pics of these items to show off, but my darling husband threw it in the garbage, along with cell phone... on accident of course, but i just love to remind him of it...( thats not very nice, is it...)

any who, i was just visiting a new blog, to me, chickens in the road i believe its suzannemcminn.com and she mentioned cherry pit bags, to keep you warm in these cold months. i have some of the corn bags that i warm up in the micro for my little pickles at night, but the cherry pit bags sound very interesting.

have a great holiday season!!

bread of life

ok... this could be one of the yummiest breads from a bread machine that there is... i was over at soulemama (which i love BTW) and she had this bread that she made (or her kids made im not sure) and they were calling it WHO bread. so i decided to try it and have my little pickles make it as well(telling them that by doing so, that would be their math lesson for the day..ya know fractions and measurements and all)...

... well let me tell you... it was DELICIOUS!!!! of course smothered in butter, and since, we have made it twice more, i just can't seem to get enough....but i do need to get a hold of myself.. if i was to fit into any of my clothes....anyWHO just wanted to thank amanda... for the use of her scrumptious recipe....and as you can see from the picture,,, it did not stick around for long... this is about 10 min. after it came out of the bread machine, and i also had to change the batteries in my camera...so by that time it had almost disappeared....

i love a bargain!!!

oh..how..i..love..ebay! i really love to get a good deal, and i just always seem to go there first to see what good prices i can get... its really about the hunt.... of how cheap can you find it, and also the fun stuff you can find right from your living room.

i never thought i would like to shop online, i remember thinking(when the whole online shopping thing came to be), i will never do that, what fun will that be just sitting at home being unsocial and shopping at home... how boring!!! well well well... i guess, i was, just a little bit wrong... when i got my first taste of winning an auction on ebay.... oh the thrill of it... that i actually won something!!!! i never win things(raffles, the lottery)... but now... oh sweeeet ebay now i can win all the time..... YIPEEEEEE

and speaking of winning, i just won myself a bargain.. i have been shopping for a while now for some bamboo fiber sheets...(since my little sweet pickle cut a hole in my 800thread count set with some scissors) well i got a great deal... and im so excited.. that i just cant hide it,,,, im about to lose control and i think i like it..... yeah yeah, that's actually what i was singing ... right after i won!!! now i just have to wait patiently by the mailbox for them...that's the only bad part of shopping online is that you don't get it in your hot little hands for a while. oh well its still fun hunting.... see with 4 little pickles and living in a small town(seriously there is only a grocery store and a miniature sort of lame walmart store called alco, that we have here)so i don't get much time or don't want to drive 40 -60 min to the nearest walmart or target or whatever.... any who enough with that... here is a picture of what my baby dill likes to do these days..... she is so adorable,,,, so i let her do it......
